Tayler's Missing Tooth!

After weeks of wiggling her front tooth and wondering when it was going to come out, Tayer finally lost her top tooth. She has a couple more that are loose and pretty soon she will be at that stage where she talks funny. When the other kids saw she was missing her tooth they all started checking theirs to see if they were loose (even Cody was checking his). Clayton was pretty upset with the fact that he has not lost any yet. He doesn't think it is fair for Tayler to "have all the fun". We will see if he thinks it is as fun when he actually looses his first. Of course for Jenny and I, this is just another reminder of how fast our kids are growing up.

OMS Orientation

We have recently returned from OMS's Orientation for new missionary candidates. Thank you for all your prayers on our behalf. The Lord blessed us with traveling mercies both coming and going to our meetings. During the two-day sessions we learned many new things that will help us in our fund-raising efforts. As you can see in the picture, not only was it much colder than we're used to, but it snowed as well! Of course the kids thought this was just great. We are very thankful for the efforts of Heidi Walton who gathered winter snow gear (including boots!) for each of the kids. They had a great time playing in the snow. It really made the trip very enjoyable and memorable for them.

It was also a great trip for us as well. We had a good time learning more about what it means to be a missionary with OMS International. We also received training on face-to-face fund-raising, which is something we can begin right away. Thus, we are currently making appointments with people who could partner with us in this ministry God has called us to. We would like to ask you to pray for us as we begin this new phase of our ministry. Funding face-to-face is not something that either of us are naturally comfortable with; we know we have quite a bit of stretching ahead. However, we view this whole process as an adventure--not a daunting chore to be completed. We are confident that the Lord will do great and mighty things on our behalf. In all honesty, we are humbled and privileged to be a part of what the Lord has planned for our ministry partners and for the Mexican field as well.

Our First Newsletter

We have put the finishing touches on our first newsletter and we will be sending it out in the next couple of days. Doing things like this helps the reality of our acceptance and pending "friend-raising" really sink in. We are trying to plan a trip to Mexico in the near future in order to help us be better prepared for deputation, and so that the kids can get a better understanding of what it means that we will be missionaries to Mexico. We ask you to pray for the timing of this trip as well as the funding of it.

Official OMS Missionaries!

For over a decade we have been praying about the chance to be missionaries. As of December 14, 2007, our prayers have finally been answered! We have formally been accepted with OMS, International with an assignment to the Mexican field--another direct answer to prayer!

We are committed to our church outside of Yazoo City until the end of February. Then, the weekend of March 7-8 we will be making a trip to OMS headquarters in Greenwood, Indiana (just south of Indianapolis) for some orientation meetings. We'll have our questions answered regarding fundraising (or as it's known among OMS staff, "friend-raising") and all the other things that will be necessary during the next phase of our missionary journey. We'll also be making our family prayer cards at that time as well and shortly after that we plan to begin traveling on weekends.

Please pray for us with that we are able to line up churches and that this stage of the process will proceed quickly! We are anxious to begin language studies on the field; our hope is that we'll be in Mexico by Christmas! While this doesn't seem very likely from a human perspective, with the Lord's help ALL THINGS are possible!

Tayler's New Glasses

Here are a couple of pictures of Tayler and her new glasses. After a recent checkup her doctor was concerned about her eyesight so she suggested we have them checked out. As a result, we found out that Tayler was farsighted and was in need of some glasses. We also found out that Clayton has a slight astigmatism, but it is not bad enough to need glasses yet. Thankfully Tayler really loves the idea of wearing glasses (at least for now). Clayton however is very disappointed because he wanted to get glasses also. We will see if he is as excited when his day finally comes. While we both agree that she looks very nice in her glasses, we also agree that they demonstrate the fact that she is quickly growing up and is well on her way to becoming a young lady.

She lacked a nap waiting for the sap
To the ball they would go if he wasn't so slow
Now all alone she sits because the prince is a ditz
She sticks out her lip and offers this important tip,
"When accepting a date from a prince who is great,
always have a backup in case he is late!"

The First Day of School!

Here are a couple of pictures of the kid's first day of school this year. As you know, Tayler is now in the 1st grade and this was Clayton's first day of Kindergarden. They are both doing very well. Although Jenny is now experiencing the other side of the education process. For instance, whenever I come home from work and ask them what they studied I get "I don't know". This of course is the last thing their teacher who spent so much time with them wants to hear. However, with a little prompting from her they are able to tell me all about what they learned. It is so exciting to see them in this stage in their life and to see how much they enjoy their school time.

Evil Doers of the World Beware!
Consider yourselves forewarned. There is a new super hero here to help right the wrong and restore justice, order and nap time to our chaotic, tired and cranky world. Don't let the cute face fool you into thinking this little girl is no threat. I guarantee you that what she lacks in stature she makes up for in pure attitute and spunk.

Her current mission? To conquer the ellusive Count Potty. Armed with her super safety goggles, jet-powered rain boots and super suit she will locate and defeat Count Potty by using him to do her dirty work....

The other day Tori walked in the room in Clayton's play saftey goggles, her rainboots and trainers to announce "I supa hewo, da da da". She's smiling for the camera (the little ham!) but before mommy took the pic she even had a stern "super hereo" countenance. Mommy was laughing so hard she could barely take the picture!

She trains for her super hero missions every day. She lowers herself into a squat, chants, "Ready, set, go!" and then tears around the house as fast as her little legs will take her, swinging one arm back and forth as she runs, the other arm held ridgidly at her side.
